This is the fake message I got on myspace.com:

Subject: Hello!
Hi 🙂 Just so you know, this account doesn’t belong to me…I’m borrowing a friend’s. I’m not to smart about computers, so I haven’t set up my own account. But my friend has been so lucky on here I just had to try it out! Your profile really stood out, so I decided to say hi. If I seem like your kind of girl at all, maybe you could take a chance and email me at kristen_jules552 at yahoo. Another friend said she would show me how to email pics, so I can send some of those along, too…

So I sent the message:

I received a message from you on myspace.com, or so I think. Just checking to see if that’s not a mistake.

And I got the reply:

Doesn’t that sound odd? No details like “I’m in Portland” or “I like the Trailblazers” or anything. Googling for the username “natkat224” gave me one hit on the fark.com web site where, if you page down, you’ll see an EXACT copy of the email!

So, for those of you who said I should email her, thanks a boatload! 🙂

  4. I came across this blog whilst researching a feature on myspace spam (I’m a writer on a magazine) and wondered if you could help at all?

    I’ve actually been trying to find a woman who has been duped by a man
    through myspace – ie. he seduces her through his blogs, sends cute
    pictures of himself and then ends up stitching her up and running off
    with her money. After reading this blog about how women are doing
    this to men on myspace, I was really surprised to find that it is
    also happening the other way round (and perhaps more so).

    However, since we are a women’s magazine we need to report this from
    a female perspective. If you’re a woman and have been through this or you know of any women who have been duped in this way, I would like to hear about it and how I might contact them. They need to be 20 – 32 and live in the UK. You can email kirsten.lester@emap.com, with your age, where you live and a photo.

    I hope you don’t mind me posting this kind of blog (which can be construed as spam itself!) – we just want to find out if this is happening and if so, make our readers aware of it.

    I replied to her after reading her profile at freindfinders. Good God are the pictures on her site nice. I don’t give CC numbers to age verification sites, or I could tell you about the other pics (if there are others). it might be worth £20 quid for a look actually 🙂 She’s pretty nice alright. Mind – the person in the freindfinders profile isn’t this girl – but what the heck.

    Reality check, any porn / abult website is only required to have a link asking if a person is over 18, and a “do not enter” message if not. Age verification sites are not required by any any ISP’s I’ve ever heard of. If you see one – expect a scam straight away. Adult Bereau is based in New Zealand, they put $15 in the scammers account everytime someone signs up from their website – that’s how these girls (if they are girls) make money.

    Something else funny, I did a google search on state2media, and the only reply was that it’s linked to http://www.zone-h.org – Digital Attacks Archive: today’s verified attacks. I think some is running a filter_defacer attack on it. Unhappy customer????? 🙂

    Found it instantly suspect as I too got the “natkat” message some time ago. A little search turned up this site then, but no results for the email address in this one.

    The persons profile it was sent from says shes from Tucson, where I am, but all of her friends are from in or around Houston.

    I’ll try to keep everyone updated if it turns out shes another scammer.

    Also, I wonder if anyone else has gotten a message from this “kate” person. If so what gives?

    So that was the clincher. Which is it…Kate…or Kristen? Can’t even keep your name straight. Cute girl tho. Shame really. Found a couple extra pictures by upping the number attached to each image. Wasn’t dumb enough to enter cred card info for the really good pictures…
    Emailed her back citing the reasons I could tell it was a scam (I shouldn’t be educating the phishers, i know. But I couldn’t resist).

    Glad im not the only one who got the message – it was on Adult friend finder under freckleda91 – then she says email me at some uk yahoo address and gives it the angela d spiel with the link. Sad thing the girl in the photo is really fit!

    I got suspicious after “she” hinted at some naughty dream she had that she wanted to share after I saw her pics…come on, you don’t even know me and you are dreaming of me!!!!! So I looked up the webpages online and there you go, it was a scam. And she was damn fine too, wold have nailed that ass big time.
    But seriously I am glad this blog is online because I would have fallen for it if I hadn’t read this site!

    she had me going for a little while but then I did a google search and came up with this website. Good thing too cuz I might have been stung along more. I though something was a little fishy though she gave me a web site. http://www.servercityspace.com/members/dianneswebsite I guess this is her new one, but I swear I saw some of those pics on a porn site before, so I checked and I came up with this web site. Well I’m going to see how long I can string her along and what info I can get out of her I wrote her this email back.

The girl was beautiful but I hardly think it was her involved. If it is an identity theft thing why doesn’t anyone do something about it?

    I checked w/ my bank and nothing has gone through yet. Now I’m going to have to keep a close eye on it for a while. God I feel stupid, but I’ll never fall for this crap again.

    I’ve already cancelled the membership and actually called them to see if there was a human on the other end. Some lady picked up the phone and, using the @yahoo email address I gave, told me my account was cancelled. I also have confirmation emails from them regarding this.

    I am in grips with what a sucker I am, but I could really use some advice on what to look out for now that I’ve been scammed. Do I need to close my bank account and re-open it? I’m going to put a chargeback on it like the above ripoffreport link talks about, but is that going to be enough?

  29. Go for cancelling your card and get a replacement so they cant rebill. If they come for the fake debt collection bit tell them to f*ck off. The whole thing stinks and this blog has been very useful as these people need to be shut down.
